Ellen: Hey everyone, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com, and today we're going to be taking a look at the Demco Slide-Lok Trailer Coupler. This allows you to have an adjustable coupler that gives you a secure hold on that hitch ball every time. So this is going to be great for utility trailers, or anything that's going to be a heavy duty trailer. It does have a 12,500 pound capacity, so definitely a well-built well-made coupler for your trailer to get you connected. The way this is going to work, we'll have our pin that goes through the mechanism here. So we can slide this collar back to open that collar out.

It's going to spring out, and that'll open up the attachment on the bottom there. This fits a two and 5/16th inch ball, so you drop our coupler over the top of that, and then as you push that, I'll do that again without my hand being in the way. It's kind of awkward to do this without anything being attached to anything else. So that wedge comes out, push it closed, and then that collar will spring back over it.So it gives you a nice secure hold around that hitch ball. You can see there, still able to maneuver around, so it does give you a little bit of a pivot point off of that ball, but still gives you a nice secure hold so you can tow that trailer down the road safely.

Of course it is a good idea to always replace that pin and clip to ensure that nothing's going to back out on you. So always make sure that you fasten that down before you actually take off. Let me get this back out of there, and then we can talk about some measurements with this. Again, this works with a two and 5/16th inch ball. It doesn't come with this hitch fall, I just grabbed one to show you guys what it looks like inaction, but you can find a lot of options for these here at etrailer.com if you're in the market for one.So this is a primed finish on here, so it should help to resist any kind of rust and corrosion, but it's a good idea to paint it again, it's just a primer, so if you don't code it again with a good rustproof paint, you could find it's starting to rust out on you, but up to you on that score.

As far as the channel back here, it does measure three inches wide, so it'll fit into a three inch wide channel. So if you want to get a surge brake actuator on your trailer as well, should fit into anything that has that three inch channel. So you can adjust the height of that, get your trailer leveled out between your truck and your trailer, make sure that you have a nice, comfortable ride for that.Also, again, 12,500 pound capacity. Keep in mind with that that you want to go off of the lowest number of any component in your system, including your towing vehicle, your hitch, your hitch ball, the ball mount, all of that stuff, go off with the lowest number of anything because really you're only as strong as your weakest link in your system. Again, ball size two and 5/16th.
