Question:

I am having trouble with my release handle being very tight even with no load on the hitch. Is there an adjustment I need to make

There are no adjustments that can be made to the Jaws of the Head # BWRVC3006 of your B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch # BWRVK3600. Instead the issue is typically caused by dirt/debris stuck inside the jaw/springs inside the hitch head. I recommend pulling off the hitch head and cleaning it out with some degreaser to help remove the grease inside the head along with any dirt/debris. Then you will be able to look inside of the head and see if there are any springs or other parts that are causing you the trouble with your handle. Even if you cannot find any debris you should be able to see where/what the handle is being caught up on to determine if it is something you can have replaced by B&W under their lifetime warranty or if the head was somehow damaged and will need to be replaced.
