Very excellent replacement for older lights. Little bit of a long story, but it might help someone. I have an 04 Excursion that has always worked with my horse trailer lights, so I had no need to check them. Enter my 2022 F-150, and all the sudden my brake and turn signal trailer lights are doing weird and inconsistent things. Since they worked with the excursion, I figured the over engineered brains of the tow module in the F150 had to be the problem. When they didn’t work with a neighbors in between truck, I pulled the lights off the trailer and found they had no ground and were wired to the running and brake/turn wires instead.

I ordered two of these for a fit test before I bought all 4. I wish I would have just ordered all 4 because I am now very anxiously awaiting my second set. The halo running light is just such a cool look, and the turn/brake light is very bright. Much stronger than the old metal light casings I’m replacing even with led bulbs in them. I am a little worried about the casing being plastic on these, but they shouldn’t be exposed to abuse to flex it any, so it should be fine. Time will tell. I love that they are sealed watertight too. My old ones were not.

Great pigtail and easy to wire up.

Pigtail is holding strong and working great!

by:

I have been dealing with e trailer for a long time and always get quality and quick shipping.

by:

It's a must have when you use the Optronics trailer lights!! Works great! Don't know why it don't come with the light set up but that's OK, love the light!

by:

Great product! My right brake/turn signal stopped working on my trailer, so I purchased a new ST70RB 6-1/2" oval trailer light, along with the wiring plug and grommet, installed them in about 30 min, and it works great! The package arrived quickly and was packed nicely. I found out my fuse was blown on my 2016 Traverse for the right trailer stop/turn signal, but that was most likely from the old light which I think was leaking. I didn't know there was a fuse just for that so I learned something new. I will definitely purchase trailer products again from etrailer.com!

Wiring is NOT conventional..
None of
the harness wires matched up to the flat 4 wiring.
Red was yellow green was brown etc.
And wiring or color ceding was included with the 7 pin harness

by:

Thanks for getting me the replacement part quickly.

by:

With the trailer lights you really need this PIG TAIL. You can make it work, but this is so much easier and is water proof.
Picture is back side of the panel where the PIG TAIL is sticking threw. This will get coated with under coating when it all done.

Excellent service, Fast shipping

My boat is garage kept when not in use however, after 29 years it was time to replace the trailering wiring with a new wishbone harness. Very easy to do and no more issues with lights not working. Good product at a reasonable price.

by:

Exactly what I needed. Delivery was on time and communications from eTrailer were excellent

by:

fits and works perfect

by:

Not sure I like all this new prong connection stuff but these worked well with the new lights. Nice solid connections.

After a year, still no issues.

by:

I really like the bright back up lights. It does take a little extra work for the back up lights. - Sorry this pic doesn't show the backup/stop lights but this is the great little chuckwagon we put them on.

by:

It is the right plug for what I needed it to be, I'm exited to finally recive the product and pretty fast shipping as well! Thank you

by:

Simple pigtail wires, look decent.

by:

The lights and 3 wire pigtail were excellent, but the rubber mounting grommet would not fit the opening. Had to use original grommet.

by:

LED lights are the way to go. The reflective marker lights are great for times when the lights aren't on yet headlights will reflect off them letting the driver know there is something there. The only thing would be better on these lights would be a better ground.

Russ T.

Working well. One of the marker lights has a hard time keeping grounded.

by:

I ordered more parts (lights for my motorcycle trailer) than really needed but now I have plenty of spares. These parts were exactly what I needed and were very reasonably priced. The shipping was quick and the order was filled correctly.

Great Job !!!

My trailer is still working great. Thanks.

by:

Pretty simple to get on etrailer. Try finding this socketed connector anywhere else without having to buy the entire enclosure. This is just one of about 24 items I have purchased from etrailer.com and even when i screw up they get me right.
They seem like very nice folks who care that you get what you need.

Never better, I have another trailer to rewire and etrailer is where I am going.

by:

Was required with the light I bought. It worked well and made the install clean and it is easier to get to the wires.

by:

Arrived in record time, heavy duty copper wire as advertised and quality connectors. Would definitely buy again as needed and recommend to others.

Still working flawlessly....dependable.....

by:

pins are loose fit, and move around when and attempt is made to insert them. had to make numerous attempts at getting the pins in just the right position to make them mate to the socket.

quality plug and wire insulation. Once installed, they seem tight and secure with good electrical contact.

Professor L.

10/19/2012

I have installed several of these. They were ALWAYS a very snug fit, and sometimes slightly misaligned, which made them a little difficult to install the first time. I NEVER had one with loose pins. Loose pins? First time for everything, I guess!

Patrick B.

10/22/2012

Thanks for the comment! Sometimes there can be some wiggle room on the contacts, but typically on the light side. As long as the connections are good and solid, everything will function properly.

by:

Used with Optronics Turn/Tail/Stop LED assembly: Not really much to say about a plug except that this one does what it should and has had no comebacks to spoil the project. Perfect pin alignment with firm pin fit to light assembly. Molded rubber plug body fits snugly into light housing but is easy to grasp and remove when necessary - a good balance of 'in forever' but 'removable if you need to'. No evidence of hardening, cracking, or deterioration of plug body.

I love shopping at Etrailer because it's easy to find products and the way products have measurements and video review makes everything easy. Plus the fast shipping is outstanding.

  • Troubleshooting Wrong Bulb Filament Lighting Up with Running Lights
It could be that there is either a mis-wired trailer connector, a mis-wired light or that the presence of corrosion in a connector has the running light circuit linked to the turn signal circuit. You could also have a bad bulb with a damaged filament. You can try a new bulb to rule that out as a cause. Check all your wiring connectors for any signs of trapped dirt, moisture, corrosion or discoloration and clean or replace as needed. You can also check that your stop/turn/tail light, such...

The Round LED Trailer Stop/Turn/Tail Light # STL42RB from Optronics uses an industry-standard 3-prong plug. The two plugs you referenced, the Straight 3-Wire Pigtail # A45PB and the Right Angle 3-Wire Pigtail # A47PB, both will fit this light assembly. You choice will just be a matter of preference depending on the amount of clearance you have behind the light's mounting points. If space is tight then the right angle plug might be a better option.
