Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Product was as advertised.
Packaging
was not adquate to protect the hitch as both ends were sticking out and the hitch brackets were scraped looked like it had been dragged across concrete surface.
Recommend additional strap(s) to hold hitch within carton

Nice unit. Easy to install, hugs the bottom of the bumper, so it's not too low. Highly recommend if you want to tow with your Kia Sorento.

i been hauling my keyboards and amps. in the back seat of my car for years, then i decided to buy me a small utility trailer to haul then in, i ordered my hitch on Sunday night and it was delivered to me on the following Wednesday morning, i had it installed the say day, and it took a couple young men maybe 20 minutes and the job was done, it looks very neat on my car and you don't know it's even there until you look for it, i am very happy that i chose etrailer, thank you so very much. Simple installaction, went in just like the online video showed. Had my 14 year old grandson help lift it in place. It's easier with 2 people, but not impossible for one. Took about 90 minutes to do the hitch and wiring, could have done it quicker if I had wanted to. Was not difficult at all and a very good product. Dealer wanted $700 to install a hitch and wiring, you saved me $450. Thank you.

Patrick, Good afternoon. I still love the hitch. Have had no problems at all. I have attached a picture of us in Atlanta getting fuel on a trip last summer from Jacksonville, FL to Bismarck, ND. The trailer pulled straight and all lights worked. Thanks to the great product your company provides. Thanks again.

2014 Kia Sorento

I have used Hidden Hitch before and have yet to be disappointed. Great, reliable products as far as I am concerned. Installation on my wife's 2011 Kia Sorento SX was straightforward. The muffler position added a degree of difficulty, but with the help of my 14 year old, it was on in under an hour.
I have had only two shopping experiences with etrailer.com but recommend them without hesitation. Great prices, great customer support, great follow-up, easy to find what you need, and easy to buy.

How do you lower the spare tire with the hitch frame on?

Patrick B.

2/25/2014

As you lower the spare, you will gain enough slack on the cable for the tire to shift toward the front of the vehicle to clear the hitch. You would need to guide the tire back over the hitch when raising it back into position.

by:

The box was damaged and opened on each end. Some of the scratches can be attributed to that but there’s a few other really bad nicks with missing metal that looks as though that was package that was which is a shame. Unfortunately, I will not be referring any of my friends to your company.

I hate to see that the hitch arrived with scratches. The quickest way to fix is to touch it up with a rust resistant paint like Rustoleum to help protect it from rust. We can send a paint kit out to you.

what about wiring harness do you have a video on that, Installation and Price

Patrick B.

7/30/2013

There are wiring harnesses available for the Santa Fe and Sorento, and we do have videos on them. Price of the unit and the installation method will vary depending on which model and configuration you have. You can use our Vehicle Fit Guide to find the right harness and see the corresponding videos.

2013 Kia Sorento

I just installed the trailer hitch. I haven't towed anything yet but the installation wasn't bad. I didn't use a jack or anything.

TIP: Install the side of the muffler first. You will need to move the exaust to get the hitch bracket in and bolted. You can move it with your hand long enough to start the bolt. You will need a support or a helper to hold the other side. The product is solid and heavy. Installation took me 2 hours by myself. I would recomend that you spray the bolts and holes with WD-40.

by:
2011 Kia Sorento

A lot easier than I thought. Installed the hitch on my 2011 Kia Sorrento to hold a carrier for my snow blower. Did it by myself without raising the car. Plenty of room. After getting together everything I needed, scratching my head and thinking things over, lowering the muffler, cleaning the rust from the holes and installing the hitch, it took 1 1/2 hours.

Lowered the muffler by prying the 3 rubber grommet things off (WD40 will help). Need to do this to get to the two bolts on that side. Also sprayed WD40 in the 4 threaded holes that are already in the frame and used a small wire brush to clean out rust.

Raised the hitch, on both sides, by putting it on cement blocks and wood 'til it was close enough to get the bolts (included) started. Started one bolt (do not tighten all the way). Moved over to the other side and installed the other two using a ratchet with 5/8" socket and the back to the other side and finished those two. That's it.

Remember to reattach the muffler back to the rubber grommets. Added an American Flag cover (also from etrailer) into the receiver :)

2011 Kia Sorento

The hitch is exactly what you expect it to be from the description provided by etrailer. The packaging from etrailer was surprisingly poor (see photos, this is how it was delivered). There is no way the box used could fit the hitch without tearing through the box, so it's funny that they send it this way. That said, other that a scuff hear or there, the packaging didn't really effect the hitch, it's a big sturdy piece of steel.

This hitch worked out as expected. Great service from etrailer in answering all the questions i had.

2011 Hyundai Santa Fe

Watched install video first. Reminded me to clean out weld nuts. Blocked the hitch up into position and it bolted right up. The muffler side was tight to work around but manageable. This hitch is way overkill for out #300 sailboat and trailer but was the least expensive.

by:

The hitch arrived Thursday. I ordered it Tuesday. Having been over the videos and instructions, I had WD-40 and my battery terminal brush handy. They were not enough. I live in Wisconsin and drive a lot of dirt and sand roads, and Wisconsin uses corrosive salts to melt snow on the highways. First trip to the store resulted in the purchase of a .410 bore brush. That helped a lot, but not enough. Next trip to the store resulted in the purchase of a tap and die kit. $25 bucks for the set, and that made the difference. It was easy to clear the threads on the driver's side, but the muffler was in the way on the passenger side. I know, the videos show the heat shield and muffler moved over, but I don't have a tool for removing the hangars and was doing this job alone, in my gravel driveway. A large block of wood wedged inside the body pushed the muffler over enough that I could put a small wrench on the tap and get the threads clean on the passenger side. Then I pile 2x6 blocks and a few 1x's and managed to shim the whole unit into position. Threadlock was applied to the bolts and they were driven home with relative ease. I don't have powertools, jacks, ramps, or friends, so I suggest being nice to people who have that stuff and getting a little help. Installed in 4 hours, with most of that either driving or cleaning the holes. I think the actual bolt-on process took me about 40 minutes. My butt is kicked, but I beat the heat, the sun, the bugs, and the installation! Thanks etrailer. Tomorrow the bike rack is going in the I am off to the cabin!

by:
2011 Hyundai Santa Fe

I am very happy with the product. Once I clean the bolt holes from 6 years of build up it was very easy to install. I am currently using it for a bike rack and pulling a trailer. I will be occasionally pulling a boat with it.

by:
2012 Kia Sorento

The hitch seems very sturdy. The box had a small hole but that was expected as this is a heavy and bulky item. The install seemed very easy but trying to get everything lined up took a few more minutes than i thought. I used some bricks and a jack and got everything lined up and bolted in. I would suggest screwing in the bolts a bit before you mount the hitch just to get a feel.

by:

Excellent service. The website gave me confidence that the hitch was proper for my car. Shipping was prompt. The hitch installed really easily and works great. Easy and quick even for car newbies such as myself.

by:
2011 Hyundai Santa Fe

This review is for a 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe

Great heavy duty hitch. Me personally, I don't see how you can do this without re-tapping the threaded holes in the frame. I was unable to get the bolts started, even after oiling the threaded holes and cleaning them with a half inch wire brush on a drill. At first, I thought the bolts supplied were the wrong size. They were impossible to get started. So finally I had to re-tap the threaded holes in the frame.

Also, video doesn't show it, but you need to remove spare tire and unstrap and move muffler.

Fortunately I was able to put my car on a lift. I can't imagine how much more difficult this would be on the ground, or with car ramps.

After I wrestled with this thing for 2 hours, I finally got it together. You definitely need 2 people to bolt this up. It weighs a lot. It's a nice sturdy hitch. The challenging installation was not the hitch's fault. I recommend the hitch.

2013 Kia Sorento

It’s been a great experience since I received it. It was a fast installation and easy as a 30min job. Definitely a two person job. Using it to haul a trailer across country.

by:

Great product and easy to install. A helper is needed due to the weight. Exact fit and nice installation. It took about 15 minutes to install.

The on line video was accurate and informative.

Buy with confidence.

by:

Great piece of equipment for a great price with fast shipping and quick follow up. Two person job makes installation very easy at 10 minutes-- just had to screw in the bolts. Very pleased with etrailer.com and will definitely will bring my business back here.

by:

The hitch installed in about half an hour on a hydraulic lift. There is a good inch between the hitch and the muffler.

by:

Solid build, good quality. Kinda wish it had lock washers instead of flat washers. But that’s my only complaint. Still very satisfied with everything

2010 Hyundai Santa Fe

I purchased a Thule 4 bicycle rack from etrailer but also needed a class III trailer hitch for my 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe. This specific trailer hitch was recommended for me from etrailers customer service when I had contacted them. Bill was very helpful to me so that I could find the right product for my car. This hitch required no drilling which was important to me and the level of difficult to install was a 3 out of 10. The hitch arrived in a huge box within 3-5 business days. This is the delivery option that I selected. This also arrived along with my Thule bike rack.

I had our local auto shop install the hitch for me so that it was done properly. My car already had predrilled holes on both sides of the frame. This was installed in about 30-45 minutes. You need someone to hold the hitch while a second person puts the bolts in the holes under the frame to secure it. The hitch is steel and is heavy and durable.

I would recommend this product and am very pleased with my purchase. Thank you etrailer.com.

There is also another bolt, washer, and nut on each side required for the installation of the Curt # C13073. • Can the Spare Tire be Removed on a 2013 Kia Sorento with a Trailer Hitch Installed
Yes, to lower the spare tire you will need to angle it out and not try to drop it straight down. So you can remove/reinstall the spare tire with the # 75684 trailer hitch installed on your 2013 Kia Sorento. If you plan on doing some towing I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts, 2 balls, a hitch pin and clip, and a carrying bag. For wiring, if you have a V6 SX model without factory tow prep package use # C59236.

There are many things to consider when adding electric drum brakes to a trailer. I have included a link to our FAQ article that covers everything you will need. As far as routing the wires, first, you can attach the ground wires for the magnets nearby to the frame leaving enough slack for the travel of the suspension. For the power wire you would come off the magnet and run the wire to the front of the trailer along the frame. You can use a combination of wire loom # 7509-1 and loom clamps,...
