Brake Controller Installation Wiring On 2011 Kia Sorento EX
Question:
Hi, I made it to one of the last steps of installing my brake controller which I thought would be the easiest. I located the cold side of my brake switch so I could connect it to the brake controller, but unfortunately my 2011 KIA Sorrento EXV6 appears to suffer from the same issues that some Ford vehicles have. The cold side of the brake switch goes directly to ground when the brake pedal is not depressedinch or when the switch is not on. What are the alternatives here? Thanks

I called my contact at Tekonsha and asked about the brake switch wiring on your Sorento.
They told me that the simplest way to solve the issue is to use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 and find the brake light wire that runs either under the door sill on the driver side or can be on the passenger side under the door sill and tie into the brake light wire at that point.
They said the wiring is different for the Sorento and this seems to be the best solution.
