Video Transcript for Redline Trailer Brakes 4-35 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at a brake mounting flange for a 2 3/8" round axle. This trailer brake mounting flange gets welded to the end of the axle beam to provide a secure mounting place and support for the brake assembly. This part number includes one brake mounting flange. It's for use with a 10" brake assembly. The center hole diameter, that pilot hole. That's going to give us a diameter of 2.27".

You can see that's going to contain four bolt holes. These are going to be separated apart from one another on center by 2 7/8", and that's going to be the same separation for each one. That's a square design. It's a steel construction that has a thickness of about 1/4". Overall measurements going edge to edge this direction. It's going to measure 3 3/4", and again it's a square design so it's going to measure the same going in this direction, 3 3/4".

That's going to do it for today's look at the brake mounting flange for a 2 3/8" round axle.

I wanted to install brakes on my enclosed trailer, but the axle didn't have the flange to mount the backing plates. These flanges had the correct bolt pattern for the brake backing plates and the correct center hole to slide over the machined area on the 3500 lb axle, for an easy weld-on upgrade.

Service was good and shipment was rite on time. One of the grease seals was bent in the shipment but I think it will work time will only tell. I was hoping that Dexter being made in America that they would use American made bearing also, they don't . The only other thing was I Thought I was getting bearing buddies but after looking back at the description I see that it wasn't , that is my mistake for not knowing better. I would have saved 18 dollars being I used my old grease caps instead. But over all I will use this company again great service. Keep up the great work.

  • How To Add Trailer Brakes To 2500lb Utility Trailer Being Triple Towed
Unfortunately there is not a good way to hook up electric trailer brakes to your triple towed utility trailer, and the best option would be going with surge brakes on it that do not require any sort of electric. With that said most states do not allow a triple towed trailer to be very heavy, so I recommend checking that the weight of your triple towed trailer is legal in your area before adding the trailer brakes to the trailer. In addition you will need to make sure the hitch you have...

I would be more than happy to help you find the correct parts to add electric brakes to you 6.5x16 Landscape trailer but you will need to find out a few measurements of your spindles first. Different weight capacity axles will require different bearings, hubs, and brake components. To determine which components you will need you will need to take a few measurements. First you will need to know what inner and outer bearings your trailer uses, as well as which grease seal. The easiest...

You can most certainly use the Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-2 with your 2,200 lb axle. Even if you are at the 2,200 lb weight capacity of your axle you will be just fine. You will also need to swap out your idler hubs for hub and drum assemblies. If you have an EZ Lube spindle use part # AKHD-545-2-EZ-2K but if you would like the standard grease cap use part # AKHD-545-2-2K instead. • Parts Needed to Add Electric Drum Brakes to a Trailer
The first thing you need to do is check the trailer axle to see if it has brake mounting flanges. It will look like the square part welded onto # TRU74FR. If the trailer does not have those they will need to be added by a professional with experience in welding on brake flanges because it is a precision job. Hub and drum assemblies won't push the tires out further than they are with idler hubs so no worries there. Welding a brake flange on a spindle is not something we recommend most people doing. Most spindles have these welded on at the factory with specialized jigs and higher precision welding equipment that what even experienced do-it-yourselfers have. Square meaning the flange must be a true 90 degrees from the spindle and concentric meaning the gap around the spindle must be the same 360 degrees around. If not, the brakes will not wear...
