Video Transcript for Redline Trailer Brakes 4-34 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at a brake mounting flange for a 1 3/4 inch round trailer axle. This brake mounting flange gets welded to the end of the axle to provide a secure mounting place for a brake assembly. It does work with seven inch brake assemblies. Again it's designed for 1 3/4 inch round axles, or 2,000 pound axle, or typical 2,000 pound axle. The center hole is going to give us a diameter of 1.64 inches. The hole spacing, the distance that we have center on center between each of those holes is going to be the same at 2 7/8 of an inch, center on center.

Overall measurement is a square design. It's going to measure 3 3/4 of an inch by 3 3/4. As you can see, it's a four molt hole design. That's going to do it for today's look at the brake mounting flange for a 1 3/4 inch round trailer axles.

I have a 2004 Honda trike that I built a pull behind trailor for! After pulling it loaded it was hard to stop safely! This brake assembly along with the Redarc brake controller done the JOB! now it stops safely

by:

I had to replace the old hydraulic disc brakes on my Tryton 20' snowmobile trailer and need to add new mounting plates for the new electric drum brakes. These worked great. Cut the old mounts off the spindle and welded these on. A whole lot easier than making from scratch!!!

I'm adding electric brakes to my boat trailer so I need flanges for mounting the back plates. Not yet installed but it looks like they're going to fit and work fine.

  • Adding Electric Trailer Brakes To a 2016 TAG Max XL
To add trailer brakes to your 2016 TAG Max XL you will need to check if your current axle has a flange for trailer brakes, or not. If your axle does not have a flange you can measure the diameter of your axle to purchase the correct brake flange like # 4-34 and have a qualified welder install them on your axle. If your current axle has a flange already, it will most likely be a 4 bolt flange. To pick the correct hub and drum assemblies you will need read the numbers on your inner bearing,...

  • Is Added Space Needed to Install Electric Brakes on 2,000 lb Axle
The Electric Trailer Brake Assembly # AKEBRK-2R for 2,000 lb axles does not require any additional space because it measures 7" diameter x 1-1/4" wide and will fit directly in a hub and drum assembly such as the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 2,000-lb Axles # 8-257-5UC3. The distance from the mounting bracket such as # 4-34 and spindle is going to depend entirely on what spindle you have and it is not a dimension I would be able to provide. The mounting bracket will be directly...

  • Brake Controller For 2018 VW Tiguan With Factory 4-Flat & Brakes For Trailer With 2,000 lb Axle
We can get you set up to tow your jet ski trailer and add electric brakes, but let's go ahead and start with the brake controller for your 2018 VW Tiguan. Since the vehicle already has a factory 4-flat, you would just need to add the 7-way and wiring along with the controller. You are on point with the wiring of your VW being finicky - that's a really good way to put it. The issue is that the brake light wire on a Tiguan is often inaccessible, or can be in different locations, if it can...

  • Parts Needed for Adding Brakes to a Utility Trailer
You will need Hub Drums that have the hub built into the drum. For part # 23-47 you will need 7 inch Hub Drums, like part # 8-173-16UC3 and mounting flanges, part # 4-34, that will need to be welded to your axles. This size brake and hub drum assemblies are for smaller trailers. You will pick your hub drum based on your wheel and axle size, then you will pick the brakes that fit that hub drum. If you write back with your bolt pattern and bearing numbers, I can help you find the correct...

  • Brake and Hub/Drum Recommendations for a 2K Axle on a Boat Trailer
To install the Brake Mounting Flange # 4-34 on your 2,000 lb axle you'll need to have an experienced welder/trailer shop do the installation for you as they would know the best placement for the flange. We don't do that kind of installation so I don't have any info regarding the placement of the flange. You can definitely get a new axle with a flange pre-installed but that's something you'll need to talk with a trailer shop about as the dimensions you took aren't standard. I also recommend...

  • Parts Needed to Add Electric Drum Brakes to a 5 x 8 Utility Trailer
We do have all the items you need to add electric drum brakes to your existing 2200-lb axle and the linked article outlines it all. But for making this process as easy and foolproof as possible you might consider simply replacing the entire axle with one that already has brake flanges, hub/drums and brakes. For example, etrailer Trailer Axle w/ Electric Brakes # e43SR is an 89-inch 3500-lb axle with 5-on-4-1/2 hubs and 10-inch electric brakes that comes complete with bearings, races and...

  • Parts Needed to Add Electric Drum Brakes to a 2,000 Lb. Trailer Axle
In order to determine the correct axle for your trailer you will need to take a few measurements. The first measurement will be the overall length of your axle from the face of each hub. The other measnuent you will need to determine is the distance from the center of each spring hole. These two measurements will then be used to ensure you have selected the proper replacement axle. We have two different axle lengths with a 2,000 weight capacity. The part # T20BTR-6048 measures 60" from...

  • Electric Trailer Brakes Compatible with 10 Inch Hubs
The 7 inch brakes fit brake flange # 4-34 which has hole spacing 2-7/8 inches on center. The 10 inch assemblies have a the same 2-7/8 inch on center mounting holes # 4-35. It sounds like your brake flange is likely the standard size and you will simply use standard 10 inch brake assemblies like # AKEBRK-35. There is not a 9 inch assembly or any other assembly that will fit 3 inch on center flanges, so I hope you have the standard 2-7/8 inch flange.

  • Can a Brake Flange Be Added To a Trailer Axle With Idler Hubs To Add Electric Brakes
As I do not see that we currently have a trailer axle with a 93" hub face to hub face you are going to be best to have the brake flange welded in place. To ensure this is done properly you will want to find a trailer shop with a jig to ensure the brake flange is welded on in the correct position and straight on the axle to prevent misalignment on the axle. Here is a list of the different sized brake flanges you will need to select from. Brake Mounting Flange for 1-3/4" Round Axle # 4-34 Brake...
