Due to the small size of the vehicle, there is not a Class III hitch with a 2 inch receiver available for the 1992 Mazda Miata. There is however a Class I available that has the 1-1/4 inch by 1-1/4 inch receiver opening, part # C11729. Because of the low 200 lb tongue weight capacity of the Class I hitch, bike racks used in a Class I hitch are limited to carrying 2 bikes only. Any additional bikes would place the load too far rearward of the receiver opening. This extended distance would apply excessive leverage to the hitch, possible resulting in a bent receiver tube or the failure of the attachment points between the hitch and the vehicle. Curt's warranty requirements state that a stabilizing strap like # 18050 should be used to provide additional support to the rack.

We have dozens of Class 1 compatible bike racks available. Of the various choices, the rack I recommend most often is the Swagman Trailhead, part # S63360. The rack is reasonably priced, but it includes the essential features like anti-sway cradles and a tilting mechanism that allows you to fold the rack away from the vehicle once the bikes are removed for full access to the trunk of the car. An anti-rattle hitch pin lock/cable lock combo is available separately as # S64031.

If you'll be transporting women's bikes or bikes with sharply-angled top tubes, you might also consider a frame adapter bar like part # 64005. The bar spans the distance between the handlebar gooseneck and the seat post, which provides a secondary attachment point for the bike rack. This allows the bike to be carried level, which maximizes ground clearance.

I've linked you to some product demonstration videos you might find helpful.
