Does the Curt Hitch part # C11746V Offer Good Ground Clearance

Question:

I am concerned about ground clearance mostly as I will be using the hitch mostly for my bike rack and I occasionally park on some rough dirt roads, and my town has some vicious speed bumps. Can you send any diagrams or pictures showing what this will look like after install, and how much ground clearance Ill have at the lowest point? C11746V on a 94 Mazda Miata

The design of the Curt Vertical Trailer Hitch Receiver w/ Drawbar part # C11746V was designed specifically to promote the best ground clearance possible. I apologize but I was unable to come up with any pictures of it installed. I checked on our site, checked with Curt, and checked the web but came up dry.

One thing to keep in mind is that this hitch is really not the one to use for a bike rack because of the receiver design. There would be no way to connect the rack to the hitch.

For bike rack use the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11729 is the one you want. This will sit about three inches below your bumper line. Using that as a guide can help you determine if it will work out for you.
