Parts Needed to Add a 7-Way to a 2003 Ford Ranger FX4 for Camper Power
Question:
I have a factory installed 4-way trailer output, but cant seem to locate a tow-ready 7-way connector. If I have one its well hidden. I would like to add a 7-way output in the bed for convenient power plug-in to my slide-in camper. Im in the process re-wiring the camper with a standard 7-way connector for this purpose. It has vehicle side lights in addition to internal power needs. What adapters or wiring harness conversions do your recommend? Or should I go to my Ford dealer and buy a shop manual we know how proud they are of those for wiring diagrams and such?

Since your 2003 Ford Ranger has a 4-way you are going to need a 4 Pole to 7 Pole Adapter part # 37185. This will give you 7-way at the rear of your vehicle. You will only need to make two additional connections for this to work for what you are doing.
You will need to run the black wire to the positive side of your vehicle battery through a 40 amp fuse like the part # 9510. I would recommend you use 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 (sold by the foot) to make this connection. This will provide you with a power wire for you camper.
Now to install another 7-way in the bed of your truck you would need the Curt Gooseneck Wiring Harness part # C56000.
