Hitch Pin Hole on 3 Bike Hitch Mount Rack Wont Line Up with Hole on Hidden Hitch Receiver
Question:
I recently purchased a hitch mount 3 bike carrier. It is the tow ready brand for 1 1/4 or 2 inch hitch. When sliding the 1 1/4 end into my hitch it will not seat far enough in for the hitch pin holes to align. What are my options?

I think that I may know what the problem is. If you are attempting to use the 3 Bike Hitch Mount Folding Rack that is not rated for a Class I hitch in a Class I, 1-1/4 inch hitch, this will not work.
To keep someone from overloading a Class I hitch, manufacturers place a stopper in the back of Class I hitch receivers so that drawbars and accessory shanks can only slide into the trailer hitch opening up to that point. On hitch accessories designed for Class II trailer hitches, the shank that slides into the hitch opening is longer. When this longer shank slides into a Class I hitch, it will hit the stopper, preventing the pin hole on the hitch from lining up with the pin hole on the accessory. Class II hitch accessories will not fit into Class I hitches.
If you do in fact have a Class I hitch installed on your vehicle, you will be limited to hauling 2 bicycles. One option for a rack would be the Thule Camber # TH9058. This bike rack will fit Class I and II 1-1/4 inch hitches as well as a 2 inch hitch.
When carrying any women's, children's or alternative frame bikes, I recommend picking up the Hollywood Racks Bike Frame Adapter Bar, # HRBA-PRO. Bikes with small or angled frames can be difficult to load on hanging style bike racks and they can cause ground clearance issues. This adapter will allow you to load the bikes easily and safely.
If you do not have a Class I hitch, please shoot me an email and I will continue to work on a resolution for you.
