Creating Wiring Adapter To Go From 2024 Toyota Sienna To Control Lights On European Wired Trailer
Question:
To Bud M. re European trailer connection: Thanks for the suggestion. As I understand it, you're suggesting using two converters - one mounted in the vehicle that provides power independent of the light circuit and converts the output to a 4 pin flat connector, and the second converter mounted in the trailer that converts the 4 pin flat connector output back to separate light and brake circuits?

Very close to that Steve, I am recommending 2 converters but both of them would be mounted on the vehicle side. The ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness # 119250KIT would mount to the tail light wiring and will power the trailers lighting functions. But since your trailer has the separate European wiring with the separate tail lights you could wire the 2 to 3 Wire Tail Light Converter # C56196 into a 4-Way # HM48110 so it can be connected and disconnected as needed for other trailers you may also tow. So you would basically be creating an adapter for your European trailer which would plug into the 4-way and you can wire that into whichever European style connecter your airplane trailer requires.
I hope this has clarified things for you otherwise please let me know where you are getting confused.
