Can a Diode Be Installed on Trailer Brake Controller Output Wire to Prevent Back Feed?
Question:
In the video it was mention that you could back feed the tow vehicle 12 volt break controller , could a RM690 diode be used to prevent that from happing.

I would not recommend installing a Diode # RM-690 on the brake line as this is a part which can fail and if it were to you could risk doing a lot of damage. While the Bright Way Push-to-Test ICU Trailer Breakaway Kit # BW94FR could risk damage to your brake controller the breakaway cord should only ever be pulled when the trailer becomes disconnected from your tow vehicle or during testing which you should not be connected during either. If you are connected electronically to the trailer you are not testing the strength of the battery since it can pull power directly from your vehicle battery.
