Basically you would need to take the weight of each bike and divide that by how many straps you plan to use. That would be the total amount of capacity you would need for each D-ring.   There is no set distance apart that the E-Track, such as # E19148, has to be mounted. If it were me I would place them so that they are about an E-track's width apart wider than the widest part of the bike on each side. So for example if the bike 36 inches wide and the E-Track is 5-1/8 inches wide I would place the E-Track so there is 46-1/4 inches between them. I also recommend picking up several tie-downs, # E59143, to secure straps such as # EM34416 to the E-Track.
