Installation of a Pinnacle Draw Tite Brake Controller On a Land Rover Defender
Question:
In one weeks time I have to pick up a double axle Jayco rv. The rv has electric brakes and pinnacle draw tite controller. The information I have been given regarding the controller is:- au part no 687077 and it has 4 wires, blue, red, white and black with male bullet connectors. I would like to prepare the wiring of a Land rover defender to accept the controller prior to when we arrive at rv destination. Please could you give me information regarding wiring diagram, cable size, fuses and operating instructions. Hope you can help.

The blue wire is the trailer brake feed that is wired to the trailer connector at the back of the vehicle. A 10 gauge wire, item # 10-1-1, is used for this connection. The red wire is connected to the cold side of the brake pedal switch. Use a circuit tester, item # 3808, to find the circuit that is hot only when the brake pedal is pressed. The white wire goes to a secure vehicle ground or the negative battery post. Finally the black wire goes to the positive vehicle battery post through a 20 amp, item # PK54520 or 30 amp, item # PK54530, circuit breaker depending on the controller and the number of brake axles you have.
Your vehicle may be equipped with a factory port under the dash for wiring the brake controller, but I do not have information on the Land Rover Defender. If the port is present then the Universal Brake Control Wiring Adapter Ford, Land Rover, Lincoln, Mercury, item # 20260, may work on your vehicle.
