Can The Trailer Breakaway Switch Mount To Larger Battery On Tilt Trailer?
Question:
i have a 10000lb tilt trailer with power tilt , it has a large 800 ca /650 ca battery to run the tilt motor , question is , can I tie the break away switch hot to that big of a battery , if so do I need any circuit protection for brake system .

Yes, you can connect your Breakaway Switch # FA80-00-2060 to a larger battery than a standard 5Ah # 3801250 or 10Ah # BRW87FR breakaway batteries. This is the way most campers operate since they are going to have a larger battery to operate lights on the trailer as well. You must make sure you have a charge line going to the battery from your vehicle to maintain the battery charge while you drive. For that size of battery it would be recommended to use a Redarc Battery Charger # RED96FR to protect the battery from overcharging or drawing to much power through the 7-way.
