Is The Draw-Tite Receiver # 75461 Compatible With Weight Distribution on 2012 Toyota FJ Cruiser?
Question:
Will a weight distribution hitch work with this trailer hitch receiver? I have a 2012 FJ and Im looking to tow a 4200lbs dual-axle trailer. The manual states that the FJ can tow a max of 5000lbs with 500 max tongue weight. If so what weight distribution hitch with sway control would be best to use?

I pulled up the owners manual for your 2012 Toyota FJ from Toyota's website and the trailer towing section lists the trailer weight rating at a maximum of 4,700lbs so I'm not sure if something updated since your manual or not. You can contact a local Toyota dealer to verify the correct towing numbers. You are able to use the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75461 with a weight distribution hitch but your towing capacity on your FJ is still limited to the 4,700lbs or number you get from Toyota.
I recommend using the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution # FA92-00-0800 for your trailer. This hitch is rated for a trailer with a tongue weight of 400-800lbs and a total trailer weight up to 8,000lbs. This Fastway e2 uses the stronger trunnion bars which do not have all the issues round bars give you. It also incorporates sway control into the weight distribution bars to keep your trailer tracking straight behind your FJ. You will need either a 2" # EQ91-00-6080 or 2-5/16" # EQ91-00-6100 hitch ball depending on your coupler size. A 1-7/8" 12pt Thin Walled Socket # ALL643216 is needed to mount the hitch ball if you are planning to do this installation yourself.
