Is There a 1-1/4" Hitch Available for a 2023 Hyundai Tucson for Bike Rack
Question:
Hi Guys, We just bought a 2023 Tucson Hybrid. In researching trailer hitch options for this vehicle I can only see Class 3 hitches with a 2inch receiver listed. The vehicle only has a 2000lb or Class 1 tow rating. We just need a hitch for a bike rack. So my preference would be to find a lower class hitch with a 1 1/4inch receiver. I contacted Curt and they said they did not have one. Are there any other options? Thanks.

The only trailer hitch options available for a 2023 Hyundai Tucson are class III, with a 2" receiver like the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver part # e38KR which is what I recommend. That said, this is a much better option than the smaller class I or II, with a 1-1/4" receiver because it allows for a much greater selection of bike racks and other hitch mounted accessories like cargo carriers to choose from. In most cases, the bike rack will come with an adapter sleeve for use with a 2" receiver but if you don't have one just let me know what rack you have and I'll see if there is one available.
The Thule Hitching Post Pro part # TH934XTR for example can be installed inside a 1-1/4" receiver and a 2" receiver when using the included 1-1/4" to 2" adapter sleeve. If there is not a specific adapter sleeve available for your bike rack you can just use one like the Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter part # e58YR.
If you ever upgrade bike racks or need to use the hitch for hauling gear you'll be glad you went with the larger receiver option.
