2020 Mercedes Benz Sprinter 1500 Cargo Van Trailer Wiring

Question:

Hi, I am looking to add a curt trailer hitch receiver class III - 2 Item # 13358 to my 1500 cargo van. I also need to install the wiring harness for the trailer. I am aware the hitch is not a direct fit for the van but according to online forums, we can make it work with minimal adjustments. The trailer I plan to tow currently has a 4-way flat connector. Will this wiring harness work? Any recommendation? I would like a product is easy to install and compatible with the cargo van and does not damage any electrical component. Also, I would like to add a trailer connector socket with mounting bracket. Thank you for your help.

It looks like your 2020 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 1500 is going to need parts that aren't necessarily confirmed to fit, as you've found with your research and the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13358.

For the wiring I recommend using the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness # 119250KIT because it uses clamps for your OEM wiring so you don't have to splice into the factory circuits and potentially mess something up. The clamps then "sense" when to send power to the various trailer lights and the module pulls power directly from the battery via the lead wire. The wiring kit # 118650 that you referenced is a custom fit application for some of the older Sprinter vans which is why it won't fit your vehicle.

To secure the 4-Way flat wiring connector to your trailer hitch you need the brackets # 18144 and # 18140.

The last thing you need for your towing setup is a ball mount. We have some kits like the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # EBMK4 that comes with a 2-3/4" rise or 4" drop but I recommend checking out the linked selection of ball mounts and the helpful article I attached prior to picking one up.

i'm also attaching some review videos for you to check out.
