Troubleshooting Trailer Turn Signal and Brake Lights Not Working On 2004 Ford Ranger Factory 4-Way
Question:
I am planning to purchase a seven plug conversion and brake controller. but I have this issue with the current factory 4 pin plug I have a 2004 ford ranger. I have power for running lights. but the turn signals and brake light wire connectors have no power. Do I need a new 4 pin plug? from what I can tell this needs to be working to install the 7 pin plug you recommend because part of it plugs into this plug. I checked fuses in panel in cab and didnt find any blown fuses, would there be another part that I would be bad I need to replace or fuse some where. thanks

Expert Reply:
The fuses for the trailer turn signals on your 2004 Ford Ranger are in the engine compartment fuse panel. They are 7.5amp fuses at locations 38 and 42. It is strange that they separated the fuse for the trailer running lights as it is in the passenger compartment fuse box at location 2. It has a 10 amp rating.
