I recommend installing the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED52VR on your 2004 Ford Ranger. This has a very small profile and doesn't take up a bunch of space on your dash. If your Ranger came with the tow package and 7-way connector you will be able to wire the controller to the factory wiring under your dash.
For a Ranger without the factory prep you will need the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7. This and a Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness # HM40655 will give you a 7-way and 4-way connector on your Ranger.
The 7-Way Round to 6-Way Round Trailer Connector Adapter # 47549 will allow you to connect your 6 pin connector from your Flagstaff classic camper.
