Can You Use A Non-Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch With A Short Bed 2020 Ram 2500?

Question:

We have a new to us 2015 Coachman Brookstone 5th wheel. Coachman says the nose is designed specifically for short be trucks and can make a 90 degree turn with a non-slider hitch. We are thinking about trading our long bed GMC for a 2020 Ram with a 64inch bed. I like our BandW Companion hitch and dont want a slider. Is the Ram 64inch bed compatible with the Companion hitch? If so, any issues with going to 90 degrees on a turn? Thanks

Yes you can absolutely use a fixed hitch like the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch for Ram Towing Prep Package # BWRVK3600 with your 2020 Ram 2500.

You will need to upgrade your pin box to a rotating pin box like the Reese Sidewinder 5th Wheel King Pin with Rotating Turret # RP34FR.

The rotating pin box in conjunction with the contoured nose of your trailer, will provide your truck with the needed clearance to make 90° turns.

Sidewinders are going to be pin box specific, for instance the # RP34FR is designed to replace the:

-Fabex 663 and 665
-Lippert 0719, 1621 and 1621HD
-M&M 663 and 665
-Lippert 1716 and 0115 pin boxes.

If you're able to let me know what your pin box is, I'd be more than happy to find the corresponding pin box for you.
