B&W Companion 5TH Wheel Hitch, Drivers Side Jaw Won't Open

Question:

We just bought a used BandW 5th wheel hitch RVK3700. Owner said it was only used one season and they got a new truck same reason we just bought this. So I picked it up and mounted in the truck. Got home and my wife wanted to see if the lever worked the same as our patriot. Oddly enough, when I swung the lever to open position, only the passenger side jaw opened. The drivers side appears to be stuck and we cant get that side to open at all. So very disappointed. What can I do?

I recommend using some penetrating lubricant on the drivers side jaws of the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch # BWRVK3700. The passenger side is forced open by the cam in the handle. My guess is that the jaw may have some surface rust or corrosion that has caused it to stick.

If you are unable to get the jaws to work properly a Replacement Head Assembly # BWRVC3006 can be obtained. This will give you a virtually brand new hitch.
