Great question, Jeff!

When the Rota-Flex first came out it renovated what a pin box could do and be, but at this point in time that technology is a little more dated and the Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel Pin Box # 325-GH-8040 is the "new kid on the block" so it is definitely an upgrade to what you currently have, and you'll be happy with it for sure.

The part number mentioned above will fit in place of a Lippert 1621 or 1621HD pin box and is great for a calculated tongue weight in the 1,501-3,000 lbs range. To find your calculated tongue weight you need to take the GVWR of your trailer and multiply it by 0.22 - if it falls within the range mentioned above then this Gen-Y pin box is what you need.

Hi Jon, My 376TH has a 20k GVWR, does GenY make a hitch in these parameters? Also, will a 20k Reese hitch be adequate to pull this camper? Thanks!

@JeffK Thanks for the follow ups! Your 20K GVWR does mean you have a 4,400 lb calculated tongue weight, and while this does look to correlate to the part # GY68GR, Gen-Y has a chart that I've gone back and attached to my initial answer that shows they actually say you need the next size up with part # GY46FR - sorry for any confusion! When it comes to the weight capacity of a 5th wheel hitch I always recommend having a little cushion because if you were to load your 5th wheel up to max capacity then you'll be pushing the hitch to it's max capability. At the very least I recommend using the Curt A25 # C16180, but for something a little nicer I really like the Curt PowerRide # C22ER because it has an even higher weight rating (for future-proofing) and is just a nicer hitch overall in both function and performance.
