Weight Distribution Recommendation for 2,000 lb Dry Trailer Weight

Question:

I am purchasing an Intech Flyer Explore to tow behind a Jeep Gladiator Overland 3.6 with Max Tow package. My GVWR is about 5800 lbs. The trailer is either 1981 or 2020 lbs unloaded. the Jeep manual says to use a weight dist. hitch, but the trailer has an aluminum frame. If Intech can verify that using the dist. hitch is OK, what hitch would you recommend.

Glad to hear you're checking into everything as aluminum frames can be tricky when it comes to weight distribution.

If the trailer manufacturer gives the go ahead on a weight distribution system then I recommend the Blue Ox TrackPro # BLU36FR which comes with a 2" hitch ball and has a tongue weight range of 200 lbs - 600 lbs. This should be perfect for the loaded tongue weight of your system.

To calculate your loaded tongue weight you need to add the tongue weight of your loaded trailer (be sure it's 10-15% of the weight of your trailer) with the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your Jeep Gladiator. As long as that number is towards the middle of the 200 lb - 600 lb mark I mentioned above you're good to go! You can quickly find the tongue weight of your trailer with a scale like part # e99044.

Attached is a review video for the TrackPro for you to check out.
