What fifth hitch would be good for a 2014 chevy 2500hd 6.6. It has a 6 1/2 foot bed. The trailer is only 7200 lbs. 10,000 gross. Im thinking I might need a slider but not sure. Thanks for your help.

Most often used on trucks like yours with 6' beds, a slider helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your Silverado's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a slider to slide the fifth-wheel hitch toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning. The slider that is built into the base of the Patriot allows for 12" of fore and aft travel to give you the clearance you need.

The Patriot attaches to industry standard rails. If your Chevy does not have a set you will need the B&W Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches item # BWRVK2506. These custom brackets reduce the amount of time required to install the hitch. Brackets, 10-bolt base rails, and necessary hardware included.

I recommend adding the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness w/ 7-Pole Connector item # C56000. This harness adds a 7-way connector to the bed of your truck while allowing you to keep the one on your bumper. This makes connecting your 5th wheel or gooseneck easier.
