If your 2022 GMC Sierra 3500 Denali short bed has the OEM prep package (puck system) then I recommend the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider - Single Jaw - Above Bed - 18,000lbs # DM8550034 with the Demco 5th Wheel Rail Adapter for Chevy/GMC OEM 5th Wheel Towing Prep Package - 21K # DM6333. This adapter will simply drop into the pucks in your bed giving you an easy peasy installation and removal for a clear bed when not in use.

This hitch automatically slides as you drive to give you 14" of additional clearance for tight turns. Other sliding hitches require you to exit the cab to place the hitch into the maneuvering position to complete the tight turn and then get back out again to place the hitch back into the towing position. This hitch has a wraparound, single-piece jaw that provides 360-degree jaw-to-king-pin contact for less rattle and more security than slide-bar jaws. It also has a 3/4" thick, solid steel locking bar that automatically locks into place when the jaw closes to reinforce the connection of your coupled trailer. The double-pivot hitch head pivots front to back and side to side to ease hookup and help to limit chucking.
