Recommended Trailer Hitch And Wiring Harness For A 2022 GMC Terrain

Question:

I just got a 2022 GMC Terrain and will be installing the Curt C77FR hitch on it but also need wiring for a small trailer. It has a 4 Pole plug so no brakes or anything like that. Will I need to install any other fuses or relays to get the Curt C94FR harness up and running properly?

Installing the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C94FR on your 2022 GMC Terrain will not require any extra fuses or relays to get up and running as everything needed will be included. So it really is a plug and play harness. I included an install video we did on a 2020 Terrain for you to check out as well.

I can also confirm that the Curt # C77FR hitch will install quickly and easily on your 2022 Terrain. The access holes in the frame may need to opened up a little to allow the hardware to fit through, but other than that it bolts right up. I included an install video of 2021 Terrain for this one that will show exactly what you need to do as well.

A potential add on for the hitch and wiring is the Curt Easy Mount Bracket # C58001. I'm not a huge fan of just hooking the 4 Flat plug to the safety chain loops on the hitch and prefer a more solid way to mount it. This will clamp around the lip of the receiver opening and then allow you to mount the 4 Flat plug more permanently, which again, I prefer.

If you do not already have a ball mount, choosing the correct one will depend on the height of your trailer's coupler. The # C77FR will sit at 12" from the ground to the inside top of the receiver opening, so if your coupler measures 15" (as an example), something like the Curt Fusion Ball Mount # C45155 would be perfect. This has 2-1/4" of rise and has a 2" ball welded on, so no need to purchase one separately. It also comes with a pin and clip, so you will not need that separately either.
