According to the owner's manual, a 2006 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab 4x4 with the 5.3L engine and the 3.42 rear end has a towing capacity of 7400 lbs according to the owners manual. I would consider the owner's manual to have the final word and be the best source for information regarding the towing capacity of your truck.
The Curt # 13322 Class III hitch you'd looked at has a capacity of 600 lb tongue weight/6000 lbs towing, or 1000 lb tongue weight/10000 lbs if used with weight distribution.
For a hitch that would give you a higher capacity without needing to use weight distribution, go with the # C14332 Class IV hitch, which has a capacity up to 1000 lb tongue weight/10000 towing.
