To determine the maximum trailer weight capacity you can tow with your 2006 Chevy Silverado, you will need take your Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR) and subtract that by the the Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of your truck from the (GCWR) that will give you the maximum Gross Trailer Weight (GTW). This can all be found on the information tag located inside the driver door jamb.

As long as the maximum towing capacity of your truck is higher than the gross trailer weight of your 5th wheel, then you can safe/legal towing this trailer with your truck. Though you cannot increase the towing capacity of your vehicle, we do have suspension enhancement options for you that will improve the ride and ability for your vehicle to distribution the weight of the trailer.

In order to recommend a 5th wheel hitch or set of suspension enhancements I would need to know whether you have the 1500, 2500, or 3500 model in addition to whether or not it is 4 wheel drive. Once provided with this information I would be glad to offer my recommendations for these parts.

For a 5th wheel hitch and installation kit that will allow you to pull your Alfa Gold 3905sh Side Hauler with your 2006 Chevy Silverado 2500HD, I recommend using the Curt Q20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C16536 with the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit part # C16418-204. The Curt Q20 is a sliding hitch that will help maximize the cab clearance you will need while making sharp turns with your trailer. This hitch has a 2 jaw locking system to provide a 360-degree jaw-to-kingpin contact. In order to maximize ride quality and safe load carrying capacity, I recommend the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs part # F2250. A set of airbags will provide you with a smooth and level ride while also helping to improve the wear life of your existing suspension components. I have included a review video of the hitch and airbag kit for you as well.
