Can Blue Ox 2-1/2" to 2" Reducer BX88187 Be Used For a Weight Distribution Hitch On a Ram 2500?

Question:

I have a Blue Ox BXW1200 weight distribution hitch that I currently use with a Nissan Armada to tow our 6500lb travel trailer. My truck hitch height is exactly the same as the Armada however my truck hitch is 2.5 inch. Can I use the Blue Ox hitch reducer to safely tow using this set up with my truck, i.e. is it rated for the weight which could be up to 7500lb fully loaded trailer max weight allowed? Also, since both the Armada and Ram have the same hitch height I assume I shouldnt need to adjust the hitch height unless something seems really off, right? Thanks!

The Blue Ox Hitch Reducer Sleeve - 2-1/2" to 2" Trailer Hitch # BX88187 you were looking at does not reduce the capacities of your trailer hitch receiver and it is perfectly compatible with the Blue Ox BXW1200 weight distribution hitch. This is the most cost effective way to transfer your weight distribution hitch from your Nissan Armada with a 2" receiver to your Ram 2500 with a 2-1/2" receiver.

Since they both have the same hitch height the rise or drop setting of the shank will be correct, but since they have different suspension you may need to adjust the tension on the spring bars. It will more than likely be pretty close though.

I included a video of the # BX88187 for you to take a look at.
