2002 Chevy 3500 Express Trailer Hitch Wiring Harness and Brake Controller Kit

Question:

I have just bought a 2002 Chevy 3500 Express that was converted by Startrans to an 8 passenger/plus driver transit handicap bus. Im going to go with the c15320 hitch, Partially because during the conversion, they ran the exhaust parallel back along the passenger frame rail, then with a 90 degree elbow about 15inch short of the rear bumper, crossed over to exhaustfoot out behind the drivers rear wheel. The pipe hangs below the frame rails with about 3inch of clearance, which I think is enough for the front nosefoot of the c15320 to fit between. Then I would like a round 7 blade / 4 flat wiring configuration. what do you suggest for a wiring harness? Thank you,

Expert Reply:

Installing a 4-way wiring harness and converting it to a 7-way is the easiest way to get what you're wanting so you'll want to start by installing the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package - 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector Item # C55240 which is a confirmed fit for your 2002 Chevy 3500 Express Van and from there you can wire it to the universal kit listed below:

Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires
Item # ETBC7

I recommend using Dielectric Grease for Electrical Connectors, 2 oz. Item # 11755 on your connector pins to prevent corrosion.
