TrailAir Air Ride Pin Box Installation

Question:

I just installed the TrailAir pinbox on my 5th and it has the 5th hitch pin plate sitting slightly down hill to the front of the truck now when hooked up Does it matter if it doesnt sitt fairly level when towing?.

Due to the resistance provided by the airbag, it is not unusual for a TrailAir pinbox to be at a slight downward angle toward the front of the truck.

When the TrailAir was installed, was there any play between the turret bolts and the holes in the mounting flange on the fifth wheel and the turret? If so, I would recommend loosening (but not removing) the bolts and readjusting the pin box to ensure that it is level to the trailer. Then re-torque the bolts. You will also want to ensure that you have not over inflated the air bag, which could cause the forward tilt you have described.

When the pin box and hitch are connected, the important thing is that the pin box skid plate that surrounds the king pin is making full contact with the skid plate of the 5th wheel hitch. As long as this is the case, a slight forward tilt would not be anything to be concerned about.
