The Hopkins Plug-In Simple Wiring Harness part # HM43575 is a great option for a 2009 Nissan Xterra with towing package and it features plug-in-play installation. It comes with the 4-way plug already attached but if you want to remove this for some reason you are free to do so but this is how they come.
Please note, backup lights are only feasible with a 7-way wiring harness like the Tekonsha Vehicle Wiring Harness - part # 118282.
