The presence of a brake controller connector in the cab of your 2013 Coachmen will depend on a few factors. First, we will need to know what type of chassis the motor home was built on. If the motor home was built on a Ford Super Duty or E-series chassis, then there should be a connector located behind the access panel in the center of the dash on the passenger side. There will be a grey connector that will mate with the grey connector from the Plug-in Wiring Adapter, # 3034-P. I have attached the installation instructions for you to check out.

If there is no connector present, then the brake controller will need to be hard wired as I have detailed below.

If the motor home was built on a Chevrolet chassis, then there is likely no connector present and the brake controller will need to be hard wired using the Brake Controller Installation Wiring Kit, # 5506. There will be 4 wires coming from the back of the brake controller. The red wire will connect to the cold side of the stop light switch just above the brake pedal. Use a circuit tester like part # 3808 to find the wire that only has a signal when the brake pedal is pressed.

The white wire is for ground and should either be connected to a good ground location or the negative battery terminal. The two remaining wires are black for 12 volt power to the brake controller and blue for the brake output circuit. The duplex wire from wiring kit, # 5506, will attach to these two wires. Attach the black wire from the duplex wire to the black wire from the brake controller. This will connect to the positive battery post via the included circuit breaker. The blue wire from the brake controller will connect to the white wire from the duplex wire and that will run to the trailer connector at the back of the motor home.

You can splice into the wire that is used for the brake output circuit that is already present at the 7-way connector, or replace the wire at the trailer connector completely. You will want to find the wire that is connected to the pin in the 5 o clock position when looking at the 7-way trailer connector, that is the wire for the brake output circuit. I have attached a help article on brake controller installation for you to check out.
