The best way to determine if your 2012 Toyota Highlander has a factory tow package is to have a Toyota dealer run the VIN number in their computer system. They can tell you how the vehicle is equipped that way. If they say you do not have the tow…
I recommend a 12 volt car battery rather than a breakaway battery because you may end up needing the larger battery down the road. What you will do is attach a battery box (see link for options) to the trailer frame. From the trailer side 7-Way…
It sounds like you have tested the circuits of the 4-way on your tow vehicle already, but if not you will want to use a circuit tester like our part #PTW2993 and test them individually like the video I attached demonstrates. If there is voltage there…
One of the longest hitch mounted cargo carriers we offer is the etrailer #e98874 which has a distance of 19-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the nearest edge of the carrier when folded down. To determine how this carrier would work…
The amber charging light should not be always on so you are going to want to verify that the Hopkins Engager Push-To-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit with Built-In Battery Charger #20400 is wired correctly. You will want to make particularly sure the…
In this situation, most folks either replace the safety chains, using a hook that will fit. Another option would be to use a quick link, like #C82932. Attach the quick link to the safety chain hole in the hitch, then attach the safety chain hook to…
Since the Curt S-Hook with Wire Keeper for Safety Chains and Cables, part #C81820 is made of 7/16 inch diameter zinc coated steel, I recommend using something like a vise or channel locks if available to crimp the end around your safety chains. If…
Since you are not getting the 12V power when your truck is running, you most likely don't have a fuse issue as you stated their isn't a specified fuse or relay in the owners manual. The issue is that your truck is computerized even at the…
It is not normal for the breakaway switch on your travel trailer to be wired directly to the trailer battery. Instead, it should have its own battery. I recommend adding a breakaway kit like the #20400 along with a rechargeable 12V battery. This kit…
We can offer you replacement S-hooks with keepers for your trailer's safety chains. You'll just need to find a suitable saw (or helper who can bend the S hook open) to remove the old ones. We have S-hooks in 7/16-inch size #C81820, 17/32-inch…
I would not recommend any type of extension with your towing setup. Extenders create more torque on the vehicle frame, hitch, drawbar, extender and hitch ball because of the extension, just like adding a pipe to the end of a breaker bar. This added…
I would be happy to help! The correct replacement Clevis hooks will be dependent on the thickness of your chain links. Likely you would need either the Curt Clevis Hook with Spring Loaded Safety Latch - 7/16" #C81970 which fits 7/16" Thick…
