Troubleshooting a Breakaway Kit that Applies Voltage on Trailer Brakes All the Time  

Question:

I just hooked up the trailer brakes and the work properly . as soon as I hooked up the brake away kit the brakes stay locked up until you unplug the plug from the truck then you canm hear them release. as soon as you plug the plug back in the brakes on the trailer are locked , Im using a seven pin plug I dont know what the problem could be

It sounds like you may have wired your setup in such a way that the battery is somehow putting voltage on the brake output circuit which is why your brakes are locking up. Check the third page of the installation instructions I attached to see the wiring diagram on how it should be wired up and compare it to your setup.

You should also check to make sure that the plunger is properly installed into the switch.
