Is a Weight Distribution System Needed for a 4,000 Lb Trailer
Question:
Im planning on towing a camper less than 4000 lbs and my vehicle has a tow capacity of 6000 lbs. Do i need a weight distribution hitch ? if so which one do you recommend.

Yes, when towing a trailer with a weight over half that of the tow vehicle you will need to use a weight distribution system. This system will be based solely on the trailer and its tongue weight. If the trailer weighs 4,000 lbs then we can estimate the tongue weight to be between 400 - 600 lbs. For this, I recommend the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution System part # FA94-00-0600 which would also require the 2" Hitch Ball part # A-90. This system has both weight distribution properties as well as sway control which is a must for most trailers.
