Which Reese Weight Distribution System for a 22 Foot Travel Trailer with a GVRW of 6060 Pounds
Question:
Would this be the correct WD hitch/sway control for a 22 travel trailer with a dry hitch weight of 450lbs and a GVRW of 6060lbs or would I want the lighter duty 600lb TW Reese hitch? Im thinking that if I add a pair of deep cycle batteries, 2 full propane tanks, a full 36gallon FW tank + camping stuff it would be pushing the limit of the lighter hitch. This would be towed by a 05 1/2 ton GMC Sierra 4x4 ext cab pick-up with the 5.3L. 3.42 gears and factory tow pkg. Thanks

Given that the GVWR represents the maximum your trailer plus its contents can weigh, we can make a pretty good guesstimate of its tongue weight. You can confirm the tongue weight for yourself by using the information provided in the article I've linked for you. Be sure to include the weight of any cargo carried behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle as tongue weight.
Given your 6060 lb GVWR, depending on how cargo is loaded, we can take a percentage of the gross trailer weight when fully loaded and arrive at a tongue weight that most likely ranges between 500-1000 pounds.
The Reese Steadi-Flex would be an excellent choice, providing both weight distribution and sway control, protecting you from sway caused by crosswinds or turbulence from passing traffic. Part # RP66559 is effective on trailers with tongue weights ranging from 500-1000 lbs, and would likely be ideal for your trailer. If your tongue weight is greater than 600 lbs, going a step up in capacity to the # RP66560 which is effective on tongue weights ranging from 600-1200 lbs might be a better alternative. The system you looked at has a 400-600 lb effective range, which might not be high enough for your trailer.
Both systems include a height adjustable weight distributing shank but a trailer ball with a 1-1/4 inch shank is required. For a 2 inch ball use part # A-90, or for a 2-5/16 inch ball, use part # 19286.
