Will 4-Pole to 7-Way Trailer Connector Adapter Actuate Trailer Brakes
Question:
I am curious if the 4 pin to 7 pin adapter will allow for the brakes on the trailer to be actuated when the brakes on the truck are utilized.

Expert Reply:
They will, but you'll need to install a brake controller to actuate the trailer brakes. I'd recommend a reasonably priced proportional controller like the Brake EVN # TK63VR. For safe, predictable trailer braking a proportional controller is the way to go.
You'll also need our brake controller installation kit, part # ETBC7. The kit includes an adapter to convert an existing 4 pole connector to a 7-way. Your vehicle will also need a functional 4 pole trailer connector if it doesn't already have one. I'd be happy to recommend a trailer connector harness if you can reply with the year, make and model of your vehicle. I've linked to a product description video featuring the iCommand brake controller and a help article explaining how the install kit works.
