Can Weight Distribution System with Sway Control Be Used On 2016 Ford Escape with Class I Hitch

Customer has a 2018 ford escape and with a class 1 hitch. Customer would like to know if a anti sway receiver is available for the class 1

Expert Reply:
In order to use a weight distribution system with integrated sway control like the Equal-i-zer # EQ37060ET for example on a 2016 Ford Escape you'll need to replace the class I hitch with a class III, the Draw-Tite Max-E-Loader Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 75758 in particular which is going to be the easiest to install and has the highest weight ratings.
The only option to use sway control with the current setup is an electric sway control device, the Curt Electronic Sway Control System part # C94VV.
