How To Choose the Correct Replacement 6,000 Lb Trailer Axle
Question:
I need to replace one 6000 lb axle on a dual axle trailer. Right now the axles I have are hydraulic brakes, but the brake lines are trashed, so the brakes aren’t working. It is a 10,000lb trailer, but I don’t foresee hauling anything that heavy. My question is, can I buy an axle with electric brakes with the idea of possibly fixing the hydraulic brakes on the other axle at a later time. Would there be a problem with electric brakes on one axle and hydraulic on the other?

In order to find the correct replacement 6,000 lb trailer axle you'll need to measure the hub face and spring center of your existing axle tube and then select the one that matches below if applicable.
86-1/2" Long Hub Face & 71-1/2" Spring Center - part # 8327826
89" Long Hub Face & 74" Spring Center - part # 8327830
95" Long Hub Face & 80" Spring Center - part # 7461121
In regards to mixing electric and hydraulic brakes, I do not recommend this as there would be a disconnect in braking which will cause a very jerking ride. I have attached a selection of our compatible brakes and hubs/drums for you as well.
