Can I Wire My Trailer Wiring Harness on2015 Ford Edge to the 12v Aux Instead of the Battery
Question:
Can I plug the power line into a 12v instead running it all the way to the battery

I strongly recommend running the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118669 directly to the battery since the 12 volt accessory plug's circuit is not designed to support the additional load of a trailer wiring harness. A wiring harness needs its own dedicated circuit directly to the battery to provide adequate power and avoid overloading the electronics circuits in your 2015 Ford Edge. We have seen many instances where customers have tapped into a 12 volt accessory circuit, like a car lighter socket and either the harness failed, the accessory circuit on the car failed, or both have failed. Additionally, doing this would void the warranty on the harness and most likely, the vehicle- so none of the ensuing damage would be covered.
I understand that running a wire to the battery under the vehicle may seem like a daunting task but I have linked one of our helpful articles with some tips for doing this that you might find helpful. I also linked our installation video of this Tekonsha T-One harness that David did where he shows all of the steps to follow to get this installed quickly.
