In-bed Camper Tie Down Recommendations for a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500

Question:

Will 4 of these be enough to keep a pickup camper in the box of my truck or do I need something fancier? If so please advice. I would like to spend less than $100 preferably. Thanks.

The Extang CargoCleats Truck Bed Tie-Down Anchors - Clamp On - 500 lbs - Qty 2 # EX1932, have a weight capacity of 500 lbs each. You will have to also make sure that the straps that you use also have enough strengths for the application. The tie-downs fit underneath the bed rails like in the video I have linked for you. Provided there is nothing in the way they could fit your 2009 Dodge Ram 1500, they are a universal fit, but will not work if you have the OEM bed rail cap installed.

Since they install on the inside of the bed you will not be able to access them easily to secure the camper and could interfere with putting the camper in the bed.

I recommend going with something a little more robust like # TDSF with hardware kit # TDHP. These tie-downs were specifically designed for use with in-bed campers. They are more secure and will hold any camper that is a fit for your truck up to 8 feet long.

For larger campers, use # HSSF and the hardware kit # TDHP. The TDSF and HSSF tie-down points are outside of the truck bed so they will not interfere.
