Will the Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Hitch Work With the Trailair Rota-Flex Pin Box
Question:
Does the Demco Recon goose neck hitch need an adapter for use with a Trail Air Rota Flex pin box? My truck is a 2018 F350 crew cab SRW with a 6.75 ft bed with B&W flip over goose neck hitch,. If I need an adapter / locking plate doesnt that defeat the benefit of the Rota Flex pin box? I have heard replacing the pin box voids the manufacturers warranty. I have an Andersen hitch currently and my new 5th wheel comes standard with Rota Flex pin box. What do you recommend as the best solution for my setup? I have seen the BandW slider goose neck hitch, but it is expensive. Safety is important along with my dollars. Thanks.

The Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # DM8550046 can be used with a Trailair Rota-Flex 5th Wheel Pin Box like part # LC328329 and there is no adapter required. That said, it sounds like you may be confusing the Trailair Rota-Flex which is a fixed pin box with the Trailair Turning Point which is a rotating pin box. The Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch cannot be used with a Trailair Turning Point 5th Wheel Pin Box. The benefits of the Trailair Rota-Flex will still be utilized when mated to the Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel.
Please note, using the Demco Recon will reduce your turning clearance but this is still an option nevertheless. However, since you have a short bed truck, a sliding 5th heel hitch like the B&W Companion Slider Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter part # BWRVK3400 is your best option. I know this is not a cost effective one but it truly is the best fifth wheel hitch on the market and well, you get what you pay for when it comes to fifth wheel hitches. The dual locking jaws are very thick therefore secure and form a tight grip on the king pin which provides a very smooth ride. The cam-action handle will then make for uncoupling on uneven ground possible with only minimal force.
