I spoke with Demco and they informed me that the square plate that attaches to the tube which holds the hitch ball in place on the Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter part # DM8550046 is 8" long x 5" wide. Therefore, you will need at least this much space for the plate to clear the recessed gooseneck hitch ball opening.
