Best Way to Carry Bikes on a 2018 Kia Niro That Will Allow Rear Cargo Access

looking for a 1 to 2 bike hatchback rack that wil be stable with the bike in it when I open the hatch. Ive been told Ill have to take the bike off before I open the back hatch... thanks

I have a solution for you, but there are no trunk mounted bike racks that will allow you to open the hatch with bikes still attached to it. The other issue you're going to run up against is that most Kia Niro models have a spoiler at the back of the vehicle that makes attaching truck mounted bike racks problematic and not advisable.

The best solution for carrying bikes is adding a trailer hitch to your 2018 Kia Niro like the Curt # C13329 and then using a swing away bike carrier like the SportRack Ridge # SR2415. This rack will mount in the 2" receiver on the Curt hitch and will swing away from the vehicle to allow full access to the rear cargo area. Since this carrier does not come with integrated locks, I recommend adding the Thule Cable Lock # TH538XT for added security if you plan on leaving the bikes unattended at all.

If you're going to be carrying bikes with aggressive frames or women's bikes, you'll need to use a bike adapter bar like the Kuat Uber # UB01 to help carry the bikes level. I've also linked some of our product demo and installation videos for you to have a look at, as well.

This is going to be the best solution for carrying bikes and still allowing access to the rear cargo area of your 2018 Kia Niro.

We've had the chance to install the Curt hitch part #C13329 on several Kia Niros and did not have to enlarge the holes of the hitch for it to fit so I would not anticipate that being an issue. Check out the install video link I attached on this…
