Trailer Hitch Solution for 2019 Acura RDX with 19 inch Spare Wheel/Tire

Question:

Hey Jameson... I think the hitch with the one in a quarter opening would be all I really need for a very rare use of my small trailer. And it would be less noticeable under there. But there is only one review on that hitch and the guy said he had to trim a half inch off of his fascia. Do you know one way or another if that is true because otherwise I guess I should order the 2-inch I don't see anybody having to trim fascia on those?

I have a solution for you but none of the hitches we offer for your 2019 Acura RDX with Tech Package can be used with a 19 inch spare stored underneath the vehicle. So what your best option would be is replace the spare you have with a smaller one from Acura so that you can then install the Draw Tite hitch part # 76268.

For trailer wiring you'd then want the Tekonsha kit part # 118800 and you'd be set with an easy to install trailer wiring harness setup that's also very reliable.

When you say that a 19" spare will not fit under with the hitch, do you mean to include a spare that may have the same circumference? My spare is a factory space saver T155/90D17 so the rim is a 17" rim.

Your 17" spare tire/wheel will fit without issue with the hitch in place on your Acura RDX. It's rims larger than 18" that cause problems.

The 1-1/4 inch Draw Tite hitch part # 36114 that fits your RDX would install the exact same as the 2 inch version you mentioned as well. The instructions that Draw Tite has given us for this hitch do not require any cutting or trimming for install. I attached a link to them for you to check out as well. I am not sure why the review you mentioned stated they had to trim. They didn't list the year of their vehicle either so it's hard for me to compare.
