How to Fix Gooseneck Horse Trailer That is Sitting Nose High?

Question:

How would you go about leveling out a nose high horse trailer if you couldn’t shorten the gooseneck hookup. Do they make lift kits for the rear axle. Here’s a picture

If your trailer has a double eye leaf spring suspension system, I recommend using something like the Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit # K71-384-00 (2-3/8" round axle) or # K71-385-00 (3" round axle) which will allow you to reposition your suspension components on top of the axle. A lift kit like this will provide you with a lift equivalent to the diameter of the axle plus the height of the leaf spring stack and will help you get the nose of your trailer down a bit and provide you with a more stable towing solution. This solution does not require any welding, so it is relatively easy to install.

You could also use the Tandem Axle Lift Kit # RR23QX which will add up to 2-1/4" of additional clearance to your trailer by drilling into your existing hangers.

If you have a different type of suspension system or axle on your horse trailer, please let me know what you have and I can make an alternate recommendation.
