Extensive Testing
InfiniteRule products undergo extensive third-party testing to determine shear strength. The shear strength is determined by placing the locking pin in a stress position and subjecting it to increasing force until a required proof load (maximum force received without deformity) is met or the pin fails. These locks have a shear strength of 42,000 lbs.
Installation
The short pin included with this set is used as a hitch lock to secure your Blue Ox adjustable ball mount to your hitch. The additional long pins are used to secure your ball mount platform to the ball mount.

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a quick look at this InfiniteRule set of locking pins. Now, these are flush style 5/8 inch diameter locking pins that will replace the standard pins for your Blue Ox adjustable ball mount for 2-1/2 inch hitches. So we are going to have the two long pins that will secure your ball platform to the ball mount. And then you've got the short pin here that's gonna secure the ball mount shank into your hitch receiver on your vehicle. Now, these are made here in the USA so they are gonna be of good quality.
They are constructed of a heavy duty rust resistant stainless steel so they are going to hold up really well and be very strong for you. These have been third party tested to have a sheer strength of 4,200 pounds so very secure when you're locking your ball mount to your vehicle. We do have the three keys included here, but each of these pins is going to have the same kind of lock core so they are keyed alike, so you really just need the one key. You can keep the other two safe at home or wherever it's gonna be convenient for you. As we open it up, you can see we do have this O-ring that's gonna protect the internal components from dirt and grime.
We've got the twist style lock here which is gonna be a lot more secure than just the quarter turn design which is a little bit more susceptible to being picked and that sort of thing. On the outside, we are going to have this weather-resistant tethered dust cap that's gonna help keep water and debris out of the keyways. These are designed to be a flush mount style so there's not gonna be much room on the sides for a would-be thief to come along and try and saw or cut the pins to take off with your ball mount. The dimensions for these, for our two longer pins, our overall, we're looking at right about 6-1/4 inch. For our shorter pin, our overall is about 5-3/4 inch.
As far as our usable span for the inside pin length for our longer pins, it's about three and there's about 3-5/8 inch. For our shorter, it's gonna be about 3-1/8 inch. So if you are wanting to secure your Blue Ox adjustable ball mount to your 2-1/2 inch hitch receiver on your vehicle, this is going to be a great way to not only secure the ball mount, the ball onto the ball mount, but also the ball mount onto your trailer hitch receiver on your vehicle.
